Sundance net lands rights to fest faves
“The Sundance ChannelSundance Channel has bought the pay TV rights to 12 movies, both fiction and documentary, from this year’s Sundance Film Festival, including Gregg Araki’s “Mysterious Skin” and Jun Ichikawa’s “Tony Takitani.”In a separate deal, Sundance Channel picked up the pay window to four movies distributed by the Works, including “The Mighty Celt,” starring Robert CarlyleRobert Carlyle and Gillian Anderson.Christian Vesper, VP of acquisitions, program planning and scheduling for Sundance Channel, handled all of the deals, negotiating “Mysterious Skin” with Tartan Films U.S. and “Takitani” with Strand ReleasingStrand Releasing.Other 2005 festival purchases include Tim Kirkman’s “Loggerheads,” with Bonnie HuntBonnie Hunt, Tess Harper and Kip Pardue; Adrienne Weiss’ “Love, Ludlow,” starring Brendan Sexton III and David Eigenberg; Simone Britton’s “Wall,” a docudocu about the tension in Israel between Arabs and Jews; and Stephen Marshall’s “This Revolution,” with Rosario Dawson.”[ SOURCE ]
