Dawson Inspired Occult Crimes

{nl}Rosario Dawson told SCI FI Wire that she’s the inspiration for Sophia Cruz, the lead character in the comic-book series Occult Crimes Taskforce, coming in July from Image/12 Gauge Comics.{nl}”Sophia was created by a family friend [writer David Atchison],{nl}who created the story and the character based on what he knows about{nl}me,” said Dawson, who is serving as co-creator on the book. “He created{nl}the character out of my personality, my image, my background and my{nl}attitudes. When he brought the concept to me, it seemed like a good{nl}idea. I liked the idea of the character looking like me, and I loved{nl}the story idea, so I said, ‘Sure.’ It just seemed like the natural{nl}thing to do.”{nl}Occult Crimes Taskforce, with illustrations by Tony{nl}Shastee, tells the story of rookie detective Sophia Cruz, who is{nl}recruited into the ranks of the NYPD’s covert police investigation unit{nl}whose primary duty is to monitor and control supernatural activity in{nl}the Manhattan underground. Dawson said that the comic is a mixture of The X-Files, Men in Black and The Matrix, but goes a lot deeper.{nl}”It’s more about different creatures, different people and{nl}different things having to live with each other,” Dawson (who appeared{nl}in Men in Black II) said in an interview. “It’s about the power one can have if they believe.”{nl}Dawson, who starred in the comic-based Sin City, is a{nl}staunch supporter of comic books in their purest form and detests the{nl}trend toward “celebritizing” comics. But in the same breath, she{nl}admitted that her own celebrity made Occult Crimes Taskforce a{nl}much easier sell. “I know that the way we were able to get interest in{nl}this book was that my face was literally and figuratively attached to{nl}it,” she said. “But this is not about me. The world that we’re creating{nl}is the really cool part of this book. Believe me, this is a whole lot{nl}more than my making myself a sexy superhero just to feed my ego.”[ SOURCE ]{nl}{nl}

Rosario Dawson is “The Hipless Wonder”

Rosario Dawson is “lopsided”. The sexy actress doesn’t think she’s got a great figure{nl}- despite being one of Hollywood’s most beautiful celebrities – because{nl}she isn’t symmetrical. She revealed: “I’m a little lopsided, which is{nl}totally fine.” The ‘Sin City’{nl}star is also paranoid she doesn’t have enough womanly curves. She told{nl}Esquire magazine: “I have no hips. I’m the hipless wonder.”Meanwhile,{nl}Rosario recently revealed she grew up in a flat. The star says her{nl}parents were so poor that at one point, they almost ended up living on{nl}the street.{nl} She revealed: “My mum broke into a building when I{nl}was six and my brother was one. She thought it was better to move us{nl}into a squat with no running water, no electricity and no heat than to{nl}stay in the slum were in, with rats running through the room and the{nl}bath tub in the kitchen.”{nl} The 26-year-old added: “For me, as a child, living that life was all I knew.”{nl}[ SOURCE ]For scans of the article click here{nl}{nl}

Rosario Dawson Talks “Sin City 2″

“Rosario Dawson, who will reprise the role of rogue hooker Gail in the upcoming sequel to Sin City, told Sci-Fi Wire that director Robert Rodriguez wants Angelina Jolie to star in Sin City 2 and is delaying production to accommodate Jolie’s current pregnancy.{nl}{nl}”The film’s{nl}been kind of postponed because Robert has been interested in Angelina{nl}Jolie for the lead,” Dawson said in an interview. “But she’s very{nl}pregnant right now. So that’s putting an understandable hold on the{nl}film.” {nl}{nl}Dawson returns in Sin City 2, which is based on Frank Miller’s graphic novel stories “A Dame to Kill for” and “Lost,{nl}Lonely and Lethal.” “I don’t think Gail changes all that much from the{nl}first film to this one. Gail is always Gail. The only preparation I’ve{nl}had to do was just to stay healthy. I think the main question in{nl}regards to Gail is whether or not I’ll cut my hair this time” says{nl}Dawson.[ SOURCE ]{nl}{nl}

Harold Hunter in the New York Times

Harold Hunter, whose skateboarding prowess and outsize personality led him to modeling{nl}and movie roles, celebrity friendships and prominence in the downtown{nl}Manhattan scene, was found dead on Feb. 17 in the East Village housing{nl}project where he grew up. He was 31.{nl}Mr. Hunter grew up on the same block as the actress Rosario Dawson.{nl}When she was 15, he helped persuade the director of “Kids,” Larry{nl}Clark, to cast her in the movie, Ms. Dawson recalled on Thursday at Mr.{nl}Hunter’s wake on the Lower East Side.{nl}”Harold’s skateboard was just a vehicle,” she said, adding: “He became{nl}famous for his personality and his spirit.
