Control Arms Concert Wednesday Night In NYC

Control Arms, a joint campaign by Oxfam and Amnesty International calling on governments to take more action to stop the spread of weapons in communities around the world, is holding a concert Wednesday night, right in the middle of the United Nation’s week-long “Review Conference to Combat The Illicit Trade In Small Arms And Light Weapons”.{nl}Control Arms has scheduled many events in NYC to help educate UN delegates and the public-at-large about how important it is to create a global Arms Trade Treaty to help save lives wherever gun trade exists, and this concert is one of the highlights.{nl}The concert will feature performances by:- Angelique Kidjo (Three time Grammy nominated African world music star ){nl}- Zola (South African Kwaito (South Africa’s hip-hop) legend, as heard in the 2006 Academy Award winning Best Foreign Language Film of the Year, “Tsotsi”.){nl}- Alma Parlantes (Band lead by Colombian musician/artist Cesar Lopez, featuring instruments made from actual discomissioned weapons.){nl}- A special reading by Rosario Dawson{nl}- Specially recorded music and video pieces by Gorillaz, Snow Patrol, Black Eyed Peas, Jack Johnson, and Desmond Tutu throughout the evening.{nl}Here’s full info:CONTROL ARMS LIVE CONCERTDate: 8pm, Wednesday June 28 2006{nl}At: Supper Club, 240 W 47th Street, New York City{nl}There are limited tickets available to the public with a suggested donation of $50 a pair. Cartier And Interview Magazine Celebrate Love Party

ROSARIO DAWSON ON FANBOY RADIO

{nl}Fandom knows actress Rosario Dawson from her work in Sin City, Men in Black 2 and Josie and the Pussycats but come July 21st, she’ll be forever known as a Clerk. Being the leading lady of Kevin Smith’s most anticipated movie, Clerks 2, is only part of her big media campaign this summer. As fans prepare for the big movie, their comic shops will be graced with even more of the lovely Mrs. Dawson. On July 6th, Image Comics will release Occult Crime Taskforce #1 written by David Atchison with Rosario Dawson and art and covers by Tony Shasteen. Dawson co-created the series with Atchison and models the NYPD detective in the series. The live broadcast of Fanboy Radio will feature all three of the creators of O.C.T. – Dawson, Atchison and Shasteen as well as your phone calls. “I’m so stoked about Sunday’s show” says Scott Hinze, host of Fanboy Radio. “Rosario attaches herself with really good properties on screen and there’s no reason to think she’ll dial in her comic book debut. ‘Clerks’ director wants snow

When Kevin Smith visited St. Paul Tuesday to promote “Clerks II,” which opens here July 21, he already was planning his next visit to Minnesota. Next time, he’ll be making a movie.The untitled romantic comedy will be Smith’s second film shot in Minnesota

Last night at the “Any One of Us: Words From Prison” event, myself and my good friend Joanna met Rosario and her mother after the show.
