Rosario Online is Back!

Welcome back everyone!

After many many glitches we’re back online with a new look, new staff and a fresh start to some old favorites. First off this could have never ever happened without the help of my friend and new co-web Crystal. She is the amazing person who revamped the look and feel of the site and helped out tons with getting things back in the swing of things. Check out her other sites on Anna Paquin and Aaron Stanford, obviously you can see she’s talented.

We do realize there are still some glitches here and there (namely the gallery, but please work with us) but for the most part everything is up and running 100%

Speaking of the gallery, while we will be updating within the next week with dozens of photos since last year, because of some very awful hacker we lost tons of our photos if you couldn’t already tell. So please if you have any that you saved from us before or any that you’re willing to donate, send them on over to rosarioonline[at]gmail.com. We will definitely appreciate it and add you to our list of contributors.

Please re-join the gallery and forums, due to technical issues and trying to fend off potential hackers we had to remove all users as a precaution. So please head on over and re-register. Thank you so much to my girl Shannon for helping out with the forum, check out her site on Casey Affleck to support.

Thank you to everyone for your patience and support, we promise we’ll continue working hard at being your number one source online for all things Rosario Dawson.

Much love!

Joliz, Crystal and Justine.

Dawson Encourages Hispanics To Vote

ROSARIO DAWSON is leading a campaign to encourage Hispanic Americans to vote in the forthcoming presidential election.

The actress is proud of her Afro Cuban/Puerto Rican/American Indian Irish heritage, but frustrated that fewer than one third of the U.S. vast Hispanic population votes.
She has co-founded a group called Voto Latino, which seeks to help those eligible to vote make it to polls on voting day.

She tells Glamour magazine, “This is such an important election. We’re trying to tell people, ‘Listen, you have rights.’” Dawson, 28, isn’t a stranger to campaigning – she marched with her mother as a small child in New York.

She adds, “My mom was politically active. We walked in Al Sharpton parades back when he still wore sweatpants.”

Justin Hartley talks Gemini Division

TVGuide.com: What do you have lined up after this? Or is everyone just chillin’ during the strike?
Hartley: Well, I think everyone is just chillin’. It’s funny, I shot this episode and I believe it was supposed to air way before now, but because of the strike, it was delayed a bit. I shot this in Vancouver back when the strike was just going down [back in November]. Then after that, I came back to L.A. and it was the holidays, so, you know, you’re busy then. But I just did this little Web series with Rosario Dawson, which is great.

TVGuide.com: Is this her online voting initiative?
Hartley: No, no, no. I know what you’re talking about, but this is something called Gemini. It’s an actual Web series. You have to look it up, it’s pretty interesting. All green screen, so that was kind of fun. Plus, working with Rosario is pretty cool, right?

A star for celebrity activism

When Latino celebrities glide down the red carpet, we are thrilled. And when they step off to become active in social issues, we are absolutely star struck. That’s because young people open their ears to the people they idolize. That appeal is what Latina celebrities like Rosario Dawson are banking on to get young adults to cast ballots today, and beyond.

As a co-founder of Voto Latino, native New Yorker Dawson has been rallying young people to step up and vote. Voto Latino has incorporated the technology and gadgets that are second nature to the Sidekick and reggaeton generation to promote voter registration. And with the slogan of “It`s your country…represent,” actors like Wilmer Valderrama of “That `70s show,” “Ugly Betty” actress Ana Ortiz, and Hip Hop artist Fat Joe are among the list of celebrities driving home the importance of civic participation.

But Voto Latino has been more than reminding young people to cast a ballot. Last week, Voto Latino joined forces with Russell Simmons’ Hip Hop Summit Action Network (HSAN) to present a united front to Latino and African American kids and help them recognize their growing clout. Hispanic and African American youth are 33 percent of the total youth vote in the country.

As one HSAN representative stated, the goal of the partnership is to rise above boundaries and recognize the commonalities of both communities. That’s a strong message, and a strong example for our kids.

We applaud the activism of Dawson, who has also been supportive of Latina teenagers in the Lower East Side, and of other celebrities who use their stardom to help empower youths. With the challenges before Latinos, we could use a lot more of that glitz.

Brittany Murphy to Replace Lindsay Lohan in ‘Poor Things’

Murphy is also in talks to replace celebrity mag regular/sometime actress Lindsay Lohan in dark comedy Poor Things. The film revolves around two female con artists who befriend and then murder homeless men in order to collect on their insurance policies. Rosario Dawson and Channing Tatum also star.

The latter film has been beset by problems, as not only did Lohan drop out due to a date with the rehab clinic, but director Ash Baron-Cohen also quit the film and was replaced by Scott Marshall.

Dawson is set to reprise her role as Gail in Sin City 2, which is pencilled in for a 2009 bow, but currently delayed due to co-director Robert Rodriquez’s involvement in the Barberella re-make.

Actor Rosario Dawson is a fan of Yaz. This hot new craze is an exercise that combines spinning and yoga. Devised by guru Kimberly Fowler, it’s Hollywood’s workout du jour.

Our verdict:

Yaz sounds great. Dawson swears it keeps her butt in great shape, so we can’t wait until it arrives here.
