The 2009 EPIC Awards are on March 30th, 2009 at the United Nations in New York City. The theme of the EPIC Awards is “Add Women. Change History.” In this groundbreaking era for the visibility and vision of women’s leadership, we are turning our attention to democracy and the media, and their impact on the next generation:
- We are proud to be honoring Voto Latino for the outstanding impact that they have had in the last four years on the next generation of Latinas. Their work reflects our own values and our goal of bringing traditionally unheard voices to the table. Rosario Dawson, Co-Founder and María Teresa Petersen, Executive Director will accept the award.
The EPIC Awards supports the work of The White House Project, a nonpartisan organization committed to enhancing public perceptions of women leaders and advancing a richly diverse, critical mass of women into leadership positions. Our nuts-and-bolts political leadership training program, Vote, Run, Lead has given over 6,000 women the tools to run for elected office and become community leaders. This year’s groundbreaking presidential campaign has had a dramatic impact on the number of women – particularly young women – determined to live a political life, and we have seen a more than 50% increase in registrations for our trainings..
Your involvement in the EPIC Awards is a testament to your commitment to this mission, the women we serve, and the communities that their leadership will impact for generations..
