Special Request from Rosario Dawson

East Harlem Tutorial Program (EHTP)—an outstanding after school program for kids—suddenly has the chance to win $1,000,000. Rosario Dawson is a huge supporter and asking her fans to help them win this competition.

Help to get out the vote between now and January 22!

From EHTP: As you may know, EHTP gives kids in the East Harlem community the opportunities they would have if they were born 20 blocks south – strong academic support, great film, dance, and arts programs, and a safe haven. Every year, we help 500 kids ages 5-18 by strengthening their math, literacy, science, and music skills and offering unique classes like Robotics, mask-making, screenplay writing and poetry slams.

WHAT’S HAPPENING NOW:

In what is a ridiculous Cinderella story, our small organization beat out more than 500,000 charities in Round 1 of the JPMorgan Chase Facebook Contest.  Now it is on to Round 2, where the top vote winner gets $1,000,000 (those who place 2^nd through 6^th win $100,000).

The competition is down to the final 100 organizations, of which EHTP is one of the only education nonprofits still standing. We need your help to get the word out!

If EHTP wins, we will expand our small College Success Program, helping more kids from East Harlem graduate college by providing them with the resources most poor Black and Latino students don’t have access to. Our students will receive four years of support including:

• Annual academic scholarships
• A laptop and funds to buy critical school supplies each semester
• Ongoing personal, career and educational counseling
• Reimbursements for career development expenses

If we win, more of our students will graduate from college, serve as desperately needed role models, and change the odds for future generations.
