Check out Rosario Dawson in the United We Win campaign done by Voto Latino. From their website:
“United We Win brings together the majority of like-minded Americans who are taking a stand against intolerance and divisive immigration legislation. Racial profiling disguised as immigration enforcement sets our country back and goes against our core American values.
Arizona’s immigration law and others like it define what an American looks like and erode our rights. Not surprisingly, a majority of young people, African-American, Latino, and Asian voters disapprove of Arizona’s SB1070 law for this very reason. Unfortunately, copy-cat laws are spreading like wildfire across our country.
United We Win sends a clear message to politicians that America is a country founded on the idea that all people are created equal regardless of race and that all citizens have the right to equal protection under the law.
This mid-term election, send a clear message to your elected representative: We’re here and we vote.

I agree with your comment in the article that “…America is a country founded on the idea that all people are created equal regardless of race and that all CITIZENS have the right to equal protection under the law.”
The issue with illegal immigrants is that they are not CITIZENS and, therefore, are not covered under the same rights of the law that American CITIZENS are. I have no problem with people wanting to come to America. I do, however, have a problem with them doing it illegally. If they want in, fine. But they need to do it the legal way, just the way other law-abiding people do.
If anyone’s rights are being violated here, it’s the American people who are ALREADY citizens and the law-abiding citizens of other countries trying to come to America the LEGAL way.
